May I Have A Reciept, With My Vote

Sweet Flying Spaghetti Monster! When we go to Wendy McBurger for our heart attack on a bun or faux health food salad with a Diet Phosporus we get a receipt. We expect a reciept in the mail from our credit card and utility companies. In fact we demand a reciept whenever we expend something of value for a product or service, so why don't we demand one when we vote. The single most valuable thing we own, tangeable or intangeable. is our right to be heard as free citizens. It is the one legacy that we can leave to our children that NO one: no party, no president, no Congress can be allowed to take away.

This is one of those issues I really like to push, because it is a cause any American shoud DEMAND. Whether you are a democrat or republican, liberal or conservative, a rabid elitest atheist snob or a fundie whack job (see I can be bi-partisan) this is an issue that concerns the single most important weapon in our country's arsenal; our vote.

In the next two weeks there will be a final push to get H.R. 550, a bill introduced by Rep. Holt of New Jersey, on the House floor. H.R. 550 would protect the integrity of our elections b requiring a voter verified paper record of every vote, requiring mandatory random hand counted audits to verify the accuracy of electronic tallies, which is the only way to ever conduct an audit we can trust.
