Everything I Need To Know About the World I Learned In Disney
Hello all! Nice to meet you! I am Virgil's little sis, and yes, we did discuss politics in the house. Ad nauseum. Our mother still has nightmares over it.
Anyway, did you ever have a moment, or epiphany, when you knew your life had changed? That point in time when you realized you would never look at the world the same way again? Mine came on a Disney Shuttle Bus between our hotel room and Disney/MGM Studios. Basically, the same vacation spot that encourages you to bring the little ones makes it almost impossible for you to travel with them. You see, since it is Disney policy to cram every last living person on the bus as the packing plants pack sardines in a can, you cannot have those pesky sleeping toddlers stay in the comfort of their carriages. You see, you can have mom and dad share the burden - one hold the carriage and one hold the baby - but that only works if you have one child. Kind of like after Hong Kong Disney was built they decided to institute the one child policy worldwide. After that, you are effectively screwed. Do not even think that someone will give up their seat for you, unless they are from the South. OR, the are from a small town South of London that I do not remember their name. If you are reading this and remember me - thank you sir!
My husband and I were doing our morning balancing act (child in one arm, carriage in the other, holding onto the metal pole for dear life) when I suddenly felt the carriage slipping. I tried to hold on tighter, and I felt it slipping more strongly. That's when I realized it was not merely slipping. I turned, aggravated, only to see a kind-looking middle aged man who spoke with a pronounced British accent.
"What are you doing?" I asked, completely surprised. Did he forget a carriage and figure I wouldn't miss the one that my fingers were currently turning white from holding??
"I was trying to hold the carriage for you." the man responded, looking at me like I was crazy. Suddenly I was embaressed, and I did apologize. That's when I realized, I liked this man's world a lot more than I liked my own. Thanks for the lesson!
