WE HAVE LIFT OFF!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday the winds finally died down and NEW HORIZONS was able to lift off!. Next stop Pluto and its moon Charon. The 9th planet discovered in 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh, lonely Pluto received its name from an eleven year old girl named Venetia Burney Phair(link to interview) of England.

By the way the young Venetia, came to the name by way of Greco-Roman mythology and not Mickey Mouse's dog.
