Russ Feingold Guest Over At TPMCafe.

Senator Russ Feingold pretty much expresses what is wrong with the Administration and its Culture of Deception & Corruption, alleged of course:
The Attorney General's lack of candor adds to the already mounting credibility problem that this Administration faces. One of the things I tried to do in my second round of questions yesterday was to point out how incomplete and misleading the President's comments on the NSA program in the State of the Union address were.

This administration reacts to anyone who questions this illegal program by saying that those of us who demand the truth and stand up for our rights and freedoms somehow has a pre-9/11 world view. In fact, the President has a pre-1776 world view. Our government has three branches, not one. And no one, not even the President, is above the law.

I am so sick of the meme that defending your rights displays a pre-9/11 mentality. Supposedly our rights, according to Shrub, is what sets us apart from our enemies. That I agree with.

What I oppose is the Orwellian argument that by restricting our rights, by dismantling our Constitutional safe guards we are in fact defending the same. This line of, and I use the term loosely, reasoning is a load of doublespeak garbage.

The AG showed himself to be just another crony, who refuses to answer direct questions. That in itself was expected when he was nominated. I commend those members of the committee, from both parties, who took Gonzalez to task.
