Plamegate Returns Again

The WaPo coverage of this new break in the Plame Gate investigation, via the AP, makes an excellent observation:
But the disclosure in documents filed Wednesday means that the president and the vice president put Libby in play as a secret provider of information to reporters about prewar intelligence on Iraq.

The authorization came as the Bush administration faced mounting criticism about its failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the main reason the president and his aides had given for going to war.

That clarifies a point I was trying to make in the previous post about how this placed Shrub and Big Time, and VP council David Addingtion in the "loop". Let me step back from my chosen role as a commentator and editorialist, this really depresses me.

This reaffirms many of my deepest fears about this group in the West Wing. This cabal of cronies, buffoons, and the morally challenged, has lowered our stature in the world, pissed on the Constitution and disgraced the presidency.

Lyndon Johnson did it when he lied about Tonkin, Nixon did it by behaving like a two-bit thief, and Reagan did it when his clandestine ops, using that tin star colonel, turned us into drug runners and weapons smugglers.

At least Lyndon Johnson had the Great Society, Nixon made civil rights and the EPA a reality, and Reagan..... and Reagan... ummm.... Anyways, what possible POSITIVE legacy will this President leave behind? Is there any chance to redeem the single worse administration since Warren G. Harding.
