There's a raging battle going on right now for the future of the Middle East and one man is doing his dead-level best to undermine our security needs and objectives in this volatile region.
What is most scary of all is that man will cost American lives as a result of his foolish and dangerous actions.
Yes, that one man is Jimmy Carter, and it's time to stop him.
Specifically, the Congress of the United States (as the people's representative) must issue a resolution of censure against Jimmy Carter.

Ummmm.... right. Jimmy Carter, gotcha. Okay Mel and for what travesty against humanity is Carter guilty of. Well it turns out that former President Carter wrote an Op-Ed for the New York Times concerning the death sentence of Salman Rushdie for his book the Satanic Verses. Lay it on us Mel:

Carter wrote in a New York Times op-ed that while, "Rushdie's First Amendment freedoms are important, we have tended to promote him and his book with little acknowledgement that it is a direct insult to those millions of Moslems whose sacred beliefs have been violated ..."

Well, very good Mel, guess you got him there. So when did James Earl Carter write this? Did I miss it in last weeks Times? Maybe late last year? A quick search over at NYT's website brings up NADA. I thought maybe Mel had jumped on the Coulter wagon by just making shit up.

I wanted to give the virulent and smirking Melanie a chance, so I went to the NYT archive "advanced" search page. Well wadja know! There it is! Let me just click on that.... oh.. I have to pay for that never mind.

I'll Google the article, well lo and behold! There she is! Right at the Carter Center Web Site: Rushdie's Book Is An Insult 5 Mar 1989.

1989..... 1989.... Are you freaking looned lady! That was 17 count 'em 17 years ago! Well if you want to deal with the past lets talk about Ronnie Reagan. How about when we walked out with our tales between our legs from Lebanon? Even better, how about when the "GOD" of modern conservatism conspired with Pointdexter and that tin star colonel, Ollie North, to sell weapons to the same Iranians you are foaming about?

Hey here's one thats more current, when the Iranian moderates approached us, willing to negotiate, why did Shrub totally rebuff them. That only tossed eight years of diplomacy out the window, and led to the conservative government currently in power. Big deal, right Mel?

Maybe, just maybe, we should drag George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and a few others, out of their respective graves and trash them for paying off the North African Barbary Pirates?
