House Rejects Gay Marriage Ban Amendment

The bill failed; falling well short of the 2/3 majority needed. The final tally was 236-187 for the amendment. The cynica; side to all this is the group masterbation the House GOP has just performed on its base, we will be seeing this crop up in campaign comercials I am sure; along with flag burning, the pledge, and some other inconsequential bullshit that seems to tie funides knickers into knots.
The President seeking to be a "uniter" was most forthcoming in trying to quell the tensions; yeah right.
My favorite is the dead horse the White House pulled out of the crypt for this one:

"When activist judges insist on redefining the fundamental institution of marriage for their states or potentially for the entire country, the only alternative left to make the people's voice heard is an amendment of the Constitution."

Didn't this meme die about the same time they pulled the plug on Schiavo. Remember those willowy days of right-wing Christards making death threats agianst judges......
