WTF? George Allen's Thugs Attack Blogger!

Okay first it was the "macacca", then the revalation of horse heads shoved in mailboxes, and the noose and the "Stars and Bars" in his law office. Oh lets not forget the arrest records he will not disclose and the accusations of abuse by his sister and now this:

A Classic From Mad TV!

What John Kerry Said.

Lets see how the wingnuts mangle this, cause you know that's coming.
If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.

I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.

The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.

Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men. And this time it won’t work because we’re going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.

What Is With The Children Touching Already?!?

Raw Story
Congresswoman on page board buried file on husband's child abuse allegation
10/19/2006 @ 12:56 pm
Filed by Brian Beutler

(full article and copy of documents)

A file allegedly suppressed by Congresswoman Heather Wilson (R-NM) has been obtained by RAW STORY.

In 1995, just three days into her tenure as Secretary of the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department, Wilson removed a routine working file alleging that her husband had engaged in inappropriate contact with a minor. The file was then transferred to the department's attorney in her own Albuquerque office, where it soon went missing.

At the time, a local investigative news team learned about the swap, but could not confirm certain details of the file. They were not able to recover the document itself.

More than ten years later, RAW STORY has uncovered and confirmed the authenticity of the police incident report believed to be contained in the missing dossier. Filed as a case of child abuse in 1993, it contends that Wilson's husband Jay Hone, an Albuquerque attorney, touched a then-16 year old boy "in a manner that was not welcome."

Busby Gains on Bilbray in Ca-50

In the traditionally Republican city of San Diego, Democrat Francine Busby has gained 11 points on her opponent Brian Bilbray. The same Bilbray, who was sworn in by House Republicans BEFORE the special election was certified.

From Survey USA 10/16/06
Likely Voters (581/800), MOE: +/- 4.1%

Bilbray (R): 49%
Busby (D) : 46%
Clark (Peace and Freedom Pary): 3%
King (Libertarian) : 2%
Undecided: 1%

The good news for Busby is that her gains come from a shink in the number of "likely Republican voters". Turnout is the deciding factor in most mid-term elections. If Republicans are staying home, and the national trend is that they are, capturing both Houses is not out of the question.
By my estimation, wins for the lower chamber do not require a nationwide sweep, but winning back or making gains in only a few states. Texas seems to be swinging blue. The Republicans seem to have surrendered in New York and most certainly Ohio. Pennsylvania and California should gain the Democrats seats as well.
This is not to say that nationwide victories are not important, they are. The above is just an appraisal of establishing a majority. Polls nationwide show that this could be a reversal of the so called "revolution.
Once again, for both parties:
TURN OUT, TURN OUT, AND TURN OUT, IS KEY.

Families Flee Iraqi River Towns On 4th Day of Sectarian Warfare
By Ellen Knickmeyer and Muhanned Saif Aldin
Washington Post Foreign Service
Tuesday, October 17, 2006; Page A01

BAGHDAD, Oct. 16 -- Families fled in search of safety Monday as open warfare raged for a fourth day between Shiite militias and armed Sunni men in Tigris River towns north of Baghdad. Militias allied with Iraq's Shiite-led government held sway in Balad city, forcing out Sunni families and leaving the bodies of slain Sunni men to rot in the streets, according to police, residents and hospital officials.

The Iraqi government deployed still more reinforcements to try to calm the embattled towns and hold open the main roads, Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Kareem al-Kinani said in the capital. But local police officers accused Shiite-dominated government police forces of working alongside Shiite militias in executing Sunnis and appealed for more help.

Homes Raided In Rep. Weldon Influence Probe
FBI Looks at Business Run By Daughter, Political Ally
By Carol D. Leonnig and R. Jeffrey Smith

Tuesday, October 17, 2006; A01

Federal agents raided the homes of Rep. Curt Weldon's daughter and one of his closest political supporters yesterday as part of an investigation into whether the veteran Republican congressman used his influence to benefit himself and his daughter's lobbying firm, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

The investigation focuses on actions the Pennsylvania congressman took that may have aided clients of the business created by his daughter, Karen Weldon, and longtime Pennsylvania political ally Charles Sexton, according to three of the sources.

A grand jury, impaneled in Washington in May, has obtained evidence gathered over at least four months through wiretaps of Washington area cellphone numbers and has scrutinized whether Weldon received anything of value, according to the sources. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the investigation....

Rep. Weldon said that he never knew who his daughter's clients were. "I've never helped my daughter get anything. My kids are qualified on their own," he said.

Weldon assailed the news reports as politically motivated. He blamed a 2004 complaint filed by the liberal-leaning Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, which is led by Melanie Sloan, a former prosecutor who also has been a Democratic staff member on the House Judiciary Committee.
That's right Curt! The Republican controlled Justice Department led by Shrub's personal attorney and now AG of the United States, is controlled by the liberal media. Please Curt get a grip.

Curt is currently, sinking for a myriad of reasons chronicled by Michael Scherer , in a tight race against Democrat and ex- Navy admiral Joe Sestak. Weldon at one point led the race by as much as 19%.
RT Strategies/CD 10/08 - 10/10 1017 LV
Weldon (R) 44%
Sestak (D) 52%
Undecided 5%

How long till Curt goes into alchohol rehab or claim to have been molested by a priest.... The countdown begins.

46 Iraq Sunnis Killed in Revenge Rampage
By CHRISTOPHER BODEEN
The Associated Press
Sunday, October 15, 2006; 11:18 AM

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Suspected Shiite militiamen killed at least 46 Sunni Arabs in a weekend rampage of revenge killing in a city north of Baghdad, an Interior Ministry official said Sunday, raising the toll in the latest sectarian bloodletting there to 63.

A string of bombings in the northern city of Kirkuk killed 10 people, including two girls who died when a man detonated explosives strapped to his body in front of the al-Mallimin girls high school in downtown Kirkuk, police officials said.

The U.S. military reported the deaths of a Marine and four soldiers. The Marine was killed in combat in Anbar province, the Sunni heartland west of Baghdad on Saturday.

Three soldiers died in a roadside bombing Saturday south of Baghdad, and one soldier was killed in a roadside bombing Friday night southwest of the capital.

The sectarian killings Saturday and Sunday in Balad, 50 miles north of Baghdad, were in apparent retaliation for the slayings of 17 Shiites, whose decapitated bodies were found in an orchard on the town's outskirts on Friday.

Boehner's Boner

Sad and twisted John Boehner.
Majority leader: Democrats endangered pages
Published: 10/13/2006 1:02 PM
Associated Press

DES MOINES, IA - House Majority Leader John Boehner today accused Democrats of endangering House pages for political gain.

Boehner, speaking at a campaign event for 3rd District Republican candidate Jeff Lamberti, said Democratic operatives have known about inappropriate e-mails sent by former Rep. Mark Foley, a Florida Republican, to young male pages for some time. He said Democrats had been shopping the information around Washington as a political ploy.

"Someone who had this information allowed those 16-year-old pages to be at risk while they were playing their political games," said Boehner, R-Ohio. "I do not believe thus far that Republicans knew about these sexually explicit instant messages."

I Love The Smell Of Irony In The Morning!

From M&C Music:
Country singing star Sara Evans has announced she is quitting the hit ABC show “Dancing with the Stars” and also filing for divorce after 13 years of marriage.
"Recent events that shed light on the status of her marriage prompted Ms. Evans to make the filing," said Allen Brown, her representative at Sony BMG Music Entertainment, in a prepared statement. Brown added that her decision to leave the hit ABC show was "to give her family her full attention at this difficult time."
And now for the irony.
This is the same Sara Evans that , indicted and disgraced former House majority leader "Hot Tub" Tom Delay, endorced
:

Sara Evans has been a strong supporter of the Republican Party and represents good American values in the media. From singing at the 2004 Republican Convention to appearing with candidates in the last several election cycles, we have always been able to count on Sara for her support of the things we all believe in. … One of her opponents on the show is ultra liberal talk show host Jerry Springer. We need to send a message to Hollywood and the media that smut has no place on television by supporting good people like Sara Evans.
She is damn hot though.

Silly Silly Bob Ney

Six term Republican Congressman, Bob Ney, joining, Tom "Sweet Sixteen" Foley, "Duke" Cunningham, "Hot Tub" Tom DeLay, and the growing list of Republicans currently under investigation, indicted, jailed, or otherwise disgraced. Rep. Ney To Enter Guilty Plea
Posted 10/13/2006 8:49 AM ET

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Jack Abramoff influence-peddling investigation claims its first member of Congress with Rep. Bob Ney set to plead guilty to taking bribes.

Ney, an Ohio Republican in his sixth term, faces up to 10 years in prison in a scandal that has tainted the White House as well as Capitol Hill.

With Republicans reeling from the House page scandal, the Abramoff investigation and growing public discontent over President Bush's handling of the Iraq war, some of Ney's House colleagues are threatening to push for his expulsion if he does not resign.

Ney, scheduled enter his plea Friday, signed papers a month ago admitting to charges of conspiracy and making false statements. He also acknowledged that he had deprived the public of his honest services.

About the same time, Ney checked into an alcohol rehabilitation program. If he enters a residential drug abuse program run by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, he could be eligible for a reduced sentence.

Despite his admission of criminal activity, Ney, 52, is entitled to collect a congressional pension.

Shorter Think Progress: John McCain Is Full Of Shit

The education of John McCain is more like the Story of O, rather than Goodbye Mr. Chips. Watching him whore himself, and any good name he might of had, in order to be president is just damn sad. Once I was a fan. I thought he was the maverick, he was made out to be. I like many others were wrong.
On North Korean Nukes:

Whoring for Fox News' Hannity and Colmes crowd on 10/10/06:
"The fact is that it is a failure of the Clinton administration policies that I was heavily involved in at the time that have caused us to be in the situation we’re in today."
Whoring for NBC's Today crowd on 10/11/06:
I think this is the wrong time for us to be engaging in finger pointing when in this crucial time, we need the world and Americans united in going to the United Nations to bring about sanctions against North Korea..”
The Kentuckian and Whig, Henry Clay, said he would rather be right than be president. John McCain, prefers to do the opposite. Makes you wonder who or what he will sell out next. The McCain flea market is open.

Bargain prices.

Marine killed on third tour

October 11, 2006

One by one, Sgt. Julian Arechaga's buddies, all dedicated Marines, were being called back for duty in Iraq, so the 23-year-old Baldwin native re-enlisted last month, starting his third tour in battle and second tour in war-torn Iraq.

His four-year career as a zealous military man who deeply loved his profession came to an end Sunday when an improvised explosive device struck his Humvee, killing him.

Military officials drove to his Baldwin home and broke the news to his family about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

"He was very serious and very dedicated to his job," said Sheyla Randazzo, a sister who helped raise Arechaga in Baldwin. "He loved it."

Arechaga was at least the second Baldwin resident to fight and die in the war.

Meal Sickens Hundreds of Iraqi Police Recruits
By Doug Smith and Zeena Kareem, Times Staff Writers
2:50 PM PDT, October 9, 2006

BAGHDAD -- Several hundred Iraqi police recruits were being treated today in an outbreak of severe food poisoning that triggered a mutinous episode in southern Iraq, and the capital was shaken by the assassination of the vice president's brother.

Officials in Numaniyah, about 75 miles southeast of Baghdad, said disorder broke out at a military base there today, the day after the recruits became ill. Angry recruits stoned the car of their commander....

"I thought someone hiding somewhere was sniping at them with a silencer," said a base security official who would only give the name Ali.

Poisoning kills 7 Iraqi police

NUMANIYA, Iraq (Reuters)

At least seven policemen died and hundreds of others fell ill after suffering food poisoning on Sunday evening in the town of Numaniya, south of Baghdad, police sources at the base said on Monday...

The policemen, nearly all Shi'ite Muslims from southern Iraq, blamed several people most notably a Sunni contractor providing food for the military base where the police were "re-training".
But Qasim and other Shi'ites did not say they believed the poisoning had sectarian motives.

Iraq arrests cooks after hundreds of police poisoned

October 10, 2006

KUT, Iraq -- Iraqi authorities arrested a produce supplier and four cooks after hundreds of police fell sick at their training barracks in an apparent bout of food poisoning, a spokesman said Monday. Interior ministry spokesman Brigadier General Abdel-Karim Khalaf dismissed earlier reports from officers at the barracks that three officers had died, but confirmed that an investigation was underway involving the five suspects. "For the moment, we are still proceeding on the basis that this was unintentional. For the moment," he said.

End A Senseless Practice

From Care Petition to Stop Female Genital Cutting and link:

Female genital cutting (FGC), also called female circumcision, has affected more than 135 million women and girls worldwide. The cutting usually takes place between the ages of 4 and 12 and can cause serious complications including severe bleeding, infection, long-term difficulties with intercourse and childbirth, and even death.

Working with community leaders, CARE has already made progress in ending female genital cutting. Now we need the help of people like you.

By signing this petition today, you'll be raising awareness and taking a stand to stop the painful practice of female genital cutting. Your name will be added to a list that will demonstrate to key decision makers and change agents just how strong the opposition against FGC is.

We must do all we can to save these girls from a lifetime of pain and suffering.

Internal Poll Suggests Hastert Could Devastate GOP

"The data suggests Americans have bailed on the speaker," a Republican source briefed on the polling data told FOX News. "And the difference could be between a 20-seat loss and 50-seat loss."

Most GOP lawmakers have stood by Hastert, pending a full airing of the facts in his handling of the Mark Foley affair, in which the former Florida representative was caught exchanging salacious messages with teen pages in Congress. The new polling data, however, suggests that many voters already have made up their minds.

The GOP source told FOX News that the internal data had not been widely shared among Republican leaders, but as awareness of it spreads calculations about Hastert's tenure may change. The source described the pollster who did the survey as "authoritative," and said once the numbers are presented, it "could change the focus" on whether the speaker remains in power....

Petition Pimping!!!

When I go to the store I get a receipt, no problem. Why is getting one when you vote considered major brain surgery by some people?

Text of the Petiton and Link, ClickHere:
Make Sure Every Vote Counts
Dear Governor Bush and Governor Taft,

I am concerned that your states use electronic voting machines that do not provide paper receipts. Without paper receipts, there is no way to verify election results if voting problems occur.

In recent elections, voters in YOUR states - Florida and Ohio - were caught up in electoral debacles that led both to problems on Election Day and a national lack of confidence in our election system today.

I believe that all voters who use an electronic voting machine should be provided with a paper receipt so that they may verify their vote.

As the Governors of Florida and Ohio -- two states that know all too well the consequences of questionable voting systems – I urge you to set an example for the rest of the nation by insisting that any electronic voting machines used in your states must provide paper receipts. Florida and Ohio need to lead the way in making sure that all votes are counted accurately and that all voting machines allow verification of election results.

Your leadership is important not just to voters in your states but to voters nationally, because it is possible that Florida and Ohio could again determine the outcome of future presidential elections and/or which party wins control of Congress.

Please act now to assure fair and verifiable elections!
